To Guy Foubert, founder of Guylian, chocolate making was an art. He was a visionary, dedicated to creating the ultimate chocolate experience, one that no other chocolate could match in quality or taste. This is why the original hazelnut praliné recipe has not been changed in over 50 years and why each of Guylian’s chocolate Sea Shells and seahorse chocolates has the Guylian quality signature. They are all made the Belgian way with 100% pure cocoa butter and have our unique hazelnut praliné filling, made with caramelised and roasted hazelnuts, resulting in brilliantly shinning marbled shells with a divine taste.

Quality is our first priority. The great Guylian chocolate experience comes from quality ingredients, chocolate making traditions, expertise and heritage. Besides constant quality control of all ingredients and packaging, Guylian always respects all international food safety standards.

To ensure our chocolates arrive as fresh as possible with you, Guylian uses a "just in time" production and logistics system. This ensures speedy delivery worldwide, so all products maintain their full taste and freshness.

Our quality certificates

In 1996 Guylian was certified with an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Certificate and was one of the first companies in the Belgian Chocolate industry to achieve this. In 2010 the ISO certificate was upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 standard. This is renewed annually after an extensive audit. Since 2003 Guylian is certified for the BRC (British Retail Consortium) Certificate.

In order to guarantee food safety and quality, we implement HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) procedures at every stage of ingredient preparation and production processes, as well as throughout the packaging and the logistics chain.
